Beau's Best Baby is a Cal Bred colt that was purchased privately as a yearling as a pinhooking prospect. He is out of a stakes placed mare that unfortunately passed away from colic when he was only 2 weeks old. The staff at Ballena Vista Farm was able to locate a surrogate Quarter Horse mare who raised him until he could be weaned, and the partners from Coast Racing were able to purchase this son of Beau Genius. He would eventually be sold at the Barretts 2 year olds in training sale by agent Sam Hendricks to trainer Gary Stute, and went on to win his first career start at Del Mar.
