About Coast Racing

Have you ever heard of the the five high school friends who had a dream to own
Thoroughbred racehorses, formed Sakatoga stable, and bought a chestnut gelding
to race in New York? Do you remember when Funny Cide won the Kentucky Derby back
in 2003? The folks at Coast Racing do, and since then have banded together to make
the dream a reality here in sunny Southern California.
Ritchie and Pete, the founding members of Coast Racing, are racing enthusiasts
who originally got involved in the sport by joining a racing syndicate. It
soon became apparent that the sport was challenging enough without having to pay
monthly syndicate fees and huge purse takeouts to the syndicate managers. After
hearing the story of the five friends from New York who had just won the Kentucky
Derby, a partnership was formed, and Coast Racing began racing horses
on the Southern California circuit.
Coast Racing is not a commercial syndicate or limited partnership, rather a group of
race fans that are living the dream of racehorse ownership by working together as a
team. By doing so they are able to reduce costs and risk, yet enjoy all the benefits of
participating in "the sport of kings". In order to maximize success on the track, the
partners at Coast Racing believe that team work is essential, and strive to work closely
with top trainers, jockeys, and bloodstock agents in California.
